 মহাকাশ নিয়ে গবেষণায় অবদান রাখায় চলতি বছর ২০১৯ সালে পদার্থবিজ্ঞানে তিনজন বিজ্ঞানী নোবেল পুরস্কার পেলেন।

 ১)ফিজিকাল কসমোলোজি বিষয়ে গবেষণায় এই পুরস্কার পান জেমস পিবলস এবং

২) সূর্যের মতো নক্ষত্রকে পরিভ্রমণরত এক্সোপ্লানেটের আবিষ্কারের জন্য এই পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন মাইকেল মেয়র

এবং

৩) দিদিয়ের কুলোজ।

তাদের সম্মানী হিসেবে ১১ লাখ মার্কিন ডলারও দেওয়া হচ্ছে। আর এবছর পদার্থবিজ্ঞান শাখায় পুরস্কার দেওয়া হলো মহাকাশ নিয়ে যুগান্তকারী উদ্ভাবন নিয়ে। এই তিন বিজ্ঞানীর গবেষণার কারণেও এখন আরও অসংখ্য এক্সোপ্লানেটের অস্তিত্ব খুঁজে পেয়েছেন বিজ্ঞানীরা।
